My List of Minor Issues with my 2024 bZ4X

I'm new to this Forum and new to owning an EV. I leased a 2024 pearl white Limited AWD limited 2 weeks ago. So far I love the car! 3rd Toyota in my life.

The issues I have are so far all software related and are all rather minor and could of course be user error as is often the case with software. I just wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing the same and has any suggestions or fixes. I still need to dig into the manuals more as well.

#1 The charging limit is not saving. I've now set the charging limit to 80% twice and both times the car kept charging above 80 and the setting was reset to the default of unlimited. This is actually the most serious issue I have for the long term. Once I have a Level 2 home charger I would definitely need that working.

#2 On a random pattern the car gives me lots of alarm beeping (3 or 4 loud beeps) after exiting and locking the car. The note on the dash says that the driver exist assist is turned off and to please watch out when existing the vehicle or something to that extent. This happens without me messing with the settings of the driver exist assist and I'd say it happens about 1 out 5 or so times I'm locking my car. Very odd.

#3 Apple Car play disconnects every now and then for no apparent reason. I have to go to the settings on the multimedia screen, go to Devices and flick that little switch back on.
I believe every time this happens it coincides with an alert on the phone, that it would like to communicate with my car and when I click yes it opens the Toyota App. I assume there is something weird going on with the initial Bluetooth handshake.

#4 I'd actually prefer to have a wired connection for Apple Car play and be able to be on the cars WiFi hotspot vs. my phones cellular network. But whenever I try to establish a wired connection for Apple Car Play and be on the cars WiFi hotspot, the phone kicks me off the WiFi and back onto the wireless Apple Car Play

#5 Buckle-up alert. The car has the 'Check rear seats' alert symbol on on the dash (for all 3 seats), even when it's empty. But not all the time. I only have a light booster seat base back there for my daughter. The sensors must be overly sensitive and be triggered randomly. This also triggers phone notifications 'Please check rear seats'

#6 This one is really minor and inconsequential, but every time I plug the charger in my car I get a phone notification: 'Your 2024 bZ4X AWD LIMITED has stopped charging. The battery is currently 10%' (or whatever it was at when I insert the plug). Then when I actually start the charging, I get the correct started and stopped notifications.

I know it's typically proper forum etiquette to search if these issues have been addressed many times over before, so my apologies in advance if that's the case and if you'd be so kind to point to the thread's I'd appreciate it.

#1 Charging limit and currents are not saved is the real issue here. Battery will be worn out faster with this issue. #2 The multi time beeping is a reminder of the back seat. If you open back seat doors after unlock the vehicle, it will beep when you relock it with remote.

#1 Yes I fully understand the consequences, hence why I am concerned about this bug! I actually checked just now and it was reset again. I will report this bug to Toyota.

#2 That makes no sense whatsoever. It's still a bug.
It just dawned on me this morning that my #2 and #5 might be related because it does say 'Check rear seats' before exiting every morning and that is also when the beeping comes when I lock my door. My regular scenario every morning is I drop off my kids at school in line (so car is on), I drive to work, get out and look my car. Why do I need to check empty back seats? Why does the car tell me that 'Driver Exist Assist is deactivated' and beeping when I have the feature turned on? The Driver Exist Assist safety feature is there to alert you when a car or a bike is approaching and your opening a door to avoid collision. Neither is the case when I drop off my kids or get out of the car myself at work and in any case why would it just deactivate itself? The feature should just stay on and stay quiet until there is an actual risk. It is clearly not working as intended, otherwise please explain.

I to have a 2024 and agree with all of these problems. I have had my BZ4X for 2 weeks and these problems drive me nuts.
1. I also find the Parking assist worthless as I have tried to use it and almost taken the rear end of cars off a couple times.
2. Another thing that gets me is the lack of information on how many times we can fast charge the car in a day. Some sources say 2 times in a day, and I have heard there is no limit. I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone. I have called Toyota on this and their official stance on it is, there is no limit on the 2024 model.
3. I am also having issues with the Qi charger. I put the phone in it with a case. Yes, I can remove the case every time and put the phone in there. But it is a small case and not a bulky case. Design the Qi charger better so that it will charge with a case on it.
4. Fog lights. I noticed on the Subaru they put fog lights on it. On the top-of-the-line limited model, would it hurt to put fog light on it? This would be a nice feature to have.
5. The center arm rest in the back, the cup holders are not large enough to hold standard sized tumblers. This is a big failure.
6. I am sure this has been brought up many times on this board. The one-foot driving button is somewhat worthless. Yes, it may regenerate some power back to the battery. But why didn't they allow the car to come to aa complete stop? This I am sure can be fixed with a simple software update.

Well these are just a few things that I have come up with in the last couple weeks of driving the car. I love the car. Any car I have bought I have always been critical of and found faults in it. There are a lot of positives in the car. One big one I have in the car I have is just fact I love driving it. It is a smooth driving car. I love almost all the features in the car.

Thanks for sharing ks28744. I've only tried the parking assist a couple times half heartedly. My impression was 'no thank you', I can back in and parallel park just fine and about 5 times faster 😆
I've read about the problem of the daily charging limit and it would be nice to get a clear answer (it's not a problem for me personally, because we have another family car for roadtrips, but of course for all the people who have this as their one vehicle, it's crucial to know and plan trips accordingly.

The Qi charge is touch and go for me as well. Actually tried yesterday without the case and did not see a difference, it was still touch and go.

Don't like the feel of the regenerative on at all. So I'm not using it. I'll give it a try in stop and go traffic as was suggested in another thread. But agree a full stop would most likely be better in that scenario.

UPDATE: I've solved my number 3 and 4. I've turned Bluetooth off and plugged the phone in. Then connected to the cars wifi hotspot. And bingo, it worked that way and stopped kicking me off.
And what's even better is that the car seems to remember the last way of connection, because I only had to do this once and now it just works. My phone automatically gets on the cars hotspot, does not try to constantly establish the wireless connection and Apple Car Play works through the wired connection. Problem solved!
