Question to the group... I recently have been using Apple Maps and have appreciated the heads up navigation instructions that appear in the dash. They pop up in the instrument panel region. I've found that when you also use the car's native navigation system this feature also works, but when you use google maps from your phone this feature doesn't work. Given the car's info system is built on google, am i doing something wrong with google maps not to get the heads up display functioning when using google maps, or is it an odd quirk with the car?

I think it needs to be addressed in the Google Maps and Waze apps for iOS by their developers.
Not all features available in Google Maps, Waze, or other navigation apps on your phone are mirrored or fully accessible through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The way a navigation app is displayed and interacted with on your phone's screen can be different from how it appears on your car's infotainment screen through CarPlay or Android Auto. That’s true for many car manufacturers. The only system I’ve personally seen that has all the phone features are the car systems that are based on Google directly from the manufacturer.
I used Google maps today and the directions showed on the dash as designed, however this was only after I had the car in for the latest recall. The reprogramming of the car took 2.5 hours but it added a passive safety feature and now Google maps now works correctly. The car gets set back to factory so you have to follow up with your settings.
It always has on the center display but has not ever run in the driver information display (at least for me). Only the "native" Toyota map runs there. And now I'm not even using Google maps as I've switched my default to ABRP.

Bei mir laufen nun ABRB, Apple Karten und seit kurzem auch Google Maps auf dem Fahrerinformationsdisplay. Weiss nicht, ob es an der iOS 26 Beta liegt, welche ich auf meinem iPhone installiert habe..
