Hi all,
I am start looking at a reliable electric vehicle, found the BZ4x model, I live in MASS, no dealership has this car for test drive, most dealership asks for add the big markup price ($10000?) to MSRP at least $500 to more refundable deposit, but no guarantee will get this car by or before October 2022 (for federal tax credit) due to unknown delivery date. I already missed the RAV4 prime deal, and try to get the tax credit deal.
My idea price is $47000 Limited? + doc fees and regular fees? I believe dealership should accept this reasonable offer.
Thanks, all

Welcome to the forum @lib22037! You've seen dealerships add a $10,000 markup for the bZ4X?! That's insane. Have you been looking at any other EVs along with the bZ?

$10,000? Some have marked them up by $25,000 (yes, you read that correctly). Only lowered them to $10,000 markup after the press raked them across the coals for the ridiculous gouging ($10,000 is ridiculous too for that matter).

For long run, I never paid over the MSRP price for a new car, we should walk away for any dealership has market adjustment price. More people do this, then car dealership will stop to add the markup price. The BZ4X not the best electric car in this segment, therefore, I made a decision, I will buy a brand new BZ4X if any dealership sell me at or below MSRP. I know this may not happen this year, or maybe for 2024 model, better price (due to run out the federal tax credit, Toyota may reduce the MSRP price), better range and has more standard features.

I just started looking for a BZ4X. If I learn of a dealer mark up, I'll probably just buy a Tesla Model Y instead.

Welcome @SR-71! Have you started reaching out to dealers to see if there'll be a markup? Which Solterra model would you want to get?

@ElectricAvenue @SR-71 was looking for BZ4X, not Solterra.

Have you had the chance to test drive a Model Y or any other comparable EVs?
