Since the FWD model isn’t listed, I would guess that the Panasonic battery in the FWD can charge better than the AWD battery brand.

This car is optimized for a long battery life. The battery that goes into the AWD version is especially carefully protected, hence the ultra-slow by the 2022 standards L3 charging speed of 100 kW.

Toyota contacted Torque News following our publication that the company had reported 32 F as the temp at which DC fast charging may not work. In fact, the Toyota says it meant to say -4 F.

The footnote from the article in the op:

DC charging times are estimated based on ideal charging conditions. As temperatures decrease below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, charging time will increase significantly. *For the bZ4X AWD model, charging may slow down more than other models in weather conditions below 32 degrees Fahrenheit and may not be possible when the temperature drops to around -4 degrees Fahrenheit and below. Drive battery conditions, charger specifications and DC charging fully more than twice per day also can negatively affect charging time.

Maybe that's what they meant from the beginning with the name BEYOND ZERO. It won't charge beyond zero (celcius). They should remame it WCBZ4x,
Seriously it seems like it's bad news after bad news for the Canadian market (i live i cold Quebec). I still have my order for the AWD full but i'm having lots of doubt now. I hope Toyota comes up with a software update because i'm not sure i wan't to be making fun off at -20C by Toyota haters.

As I indicated above, Toyota has already updated the footnote to indicate that the number is -4F (-20 C), and not 32F. I still can understand being in Canada that being a possible issue. Since the articles state only DC fast charging, I can only assume level 2 AC charging is still workable (not an option for many, I know).

Correction: -4F is -20C wich is common in winter times in Québec.I undestand the correction Toyota made (was just being sarcastic) but still they say that charging times are slowing down from 10C and at -20C it won't charge at Level 3? That makes this car unsusable in winter road trips. From Montreal to Québec city example on january monday temps are -10C so i decide to leave and come back when??? when temperature are above -20C. Unusable. What amazes me is i am still debating if i keep my order or cancel. Thanks for the info

If the car is being used, I doubt battery temp will be anywhere near that. If you try DCFC after night soak- yeah, might be slow till it warms up
