I think this will definitely boost the growth of the EV segment, at least in the general area where I live in Southern Ontario. We have quite a number of supercharger stations around the Toronto area, and while we do have a growing network of DC charging stations on the J1772, I'm still not confident in the availability of them. Too many isolated chargers that get tied up with other vehicles, and a good number that always seem to be out of service whenever I try to use one.
I would anticipate that Musk would eventually (maybe after a break-in period, 3 years for example) offer a lower charging cost for Tesla owners as a marketing perk for buying a Tesla. At least, it doesn't seem like a bad business idea lol
