Tesla plans to open its network of superchargers to other electric vehicles later this year, Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk said on Twitter: "We're making our Supercharger network open to other EVs later this year," Musk said on Tuesday, adding that over time Tesla's charging network will be opened to other electric vehicles in all countries."

In the grand scheme of EV infrastructure growth this is a huge move! By allowing non-Teslas to use the Superchargers this is going help reduce a lot of range anxiety for people. I imagine Tesla will also get a nice chunk of change from charging people to use them as well.

I think this will definitely boost the growth of the EV segment, at least in the general area where I live in Southern Ontario. We have quite a number of supercharger stations around the Toronto area, and while we do have a growing network of DC charging stations on the J1772, I'm still not confident in the availability of them. Too many isolated chargers that get tied up with other vehicles, and a good number that always seem to be out of service whenever I try to use one.

I would anticipate that Musk would eventually (maybe after a break-in period, 3 years for example) offer a lower charging cost for Tesla owners as a marketing perk for buying a Tesla. At least, it doesn't seem like a bad business idea lol

Tesla seems to be able to make things work, [plus I believe they already have the biggest charging network.

Kind of funny that you can take your Ford or VW or whatever EV to Tesla and charge it using a Tesla app, and it'll say "Tesla" on your receipt. Tesla has trademarked Tesla Cafe or some such, so you can charge your BZ while sipping a Tesla coffee LOL.
