I am thinking of getting the Premium version of ABRP (A Better Route Planner). Does anyone recommend the use of a dongle so that I can "spy" on my vehicle's non displayed information.
I understand the ABRP app does not support live data. How about the setup that Bjorn Nyland (YouTube) used during the Toyota bZ4x 1000km challenge: OBD adapter (OBDLink LX) with the the app Car Scanner ELM OBD2? From what I have read the newer version of the adapter is now OBDLink MX+. The only issue reported by the app developer is that it appears to affect the Bluetooth music streaming. They do not support live data on the bZ4X yet. I have a dongle that I used on my ID.4 and on my EV6 with live data on ABRP premium and it isn't supported yet sadly. Hopefully once Toyota updates the system to display the state of charge they can get it working but for now, nothing. That's probably the most disappointing thing about this vehicle for me so far is not having live data with ABRP... makes shit so much easier on longer trips.
I have the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE HERE. It connects to the bZ4X just fine, and the actual OBD dongle is supported by ABRP. The problem is that ABRP doesn't support the bZ4X live data connection, only a generic consumption profile.I understand the ABRP app does not support live data. I understand…have you considered another app to be able to monitor other vital information not displayed, e.g. SOC, Batter Temperatures, charging amps, etc…I have the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE HERE.
