The better half was shopping for a Rav4 Prime (like I strongly suggested when she bought her 2021 ). Dealer had a bZ4x, we test drove it and fell in love with it. but it was the XLE and in our older age, I want all the comforts of home, they did have a limited coming in to Illinois from New York. It would be here in 3 or 4 days. We signed up, and it was here the next day. It was built April 2022, but it's still new, it had 0.5 miles on it.

I've been driving Prii since 2004, but never had a plug-in. Looking forward to learning more about this car and no more gas station visits and no more oil changes.

Built in April of last year, that will have been built before the recall for the wheels. I'm sure that's been fixed and is fine, but you may want to keep an eye on the 12V battery. Some bZ4X and Solterra owners have had issues with those batteries being degraded from sitting so long. You might want to ask the dealer to thoroughly test it for you. Also, if you experience odd things such as error codes, not shifting, etc., check the battery. All (or at least many) modern cars have "gremlins" that strike when the 12V isn't up to snuff.

(Honestly, if it was me, I'd have them replace the 12V before I accepted delivery.)

Edit to add: Also, congratulations on your car. Didn't mean to just throw the negative at you! They really drive nice and have great features and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Yeah, I knew about the wheels, I'm sure that's taken care of. It was just a shock to realize my new car isn't really new. Had I known the mfg date was a year ago, I would have inspected it more closely or even passed on it (although...availability!). Do the new ones still have the 6.6kwh charger or are they shipping with the 11 now?

I have heard that the newer European models are shipping with 11 kW chargers now, but I haven't heard of them in the US. How does the exterior plastic trim look on yours? I also have an April build, and mine has mineral spots(?)/white discoloration on the trim due to sitting out for so long. Does yours drive smoothly on the highway? Some Solterra owners have found that their tires had flat spots from sitting in one spot for months, resulting in vibration at speed, although I haven't yet heard of any BZ4X owners having that problem.

I would have said that 11kW would be in Europe only, too. I think it's three phase, but I have limited knowledge.

Mine looks brand new. No mineral spots anywhere, no flat spots on the tires. Drives smooth. Love this car so far, just wish it had a bit more range and a bit faster charge.

Congrats on getting your bZ4X @JAbZ4X and welcome! What sold you and your wife on the bZ when you test drove it?

A lot of it was the ride. Much smoother than the Rav4 Prime we test drove (we were trading in a 2021 Rav4 Hybrid, we knew what to expect with the prime version). The seats were much more comfortable, and it looked nicer too. Mostly we wanted to get away from trips to the gas station. A Rav4 Prime wouldn't have made much all that much difference in that aspect.

Honestly, we had to think about the low range and slow recharge rate compare to other brands, but Toyota reliability was a huge factor as well.
