Car Wheel Tire Vehicle Land vehicle

I preordered my BZ4X car 2022 May. The main reason for preordering is the brand trust and reliability of the car. Due to the recent recalls and bad reviews all over the internet I am having second thought. Anyone else feeling the same? Posting some of my concerns here.. Please address if you have mor info.
  1. Recalls are tagged to this model and it may have impact on the resale value
  2. Toyota recent press release itself says that it is not fully into electric cars. So high chance for a half baked(proven from the recalls) car.
  3. I don't understand why this car was bashed by the reviewers. Biggest complaint all reviewers have is with the name!! What kind of BS is this? Is this because Toyota is not paying the reviewers or the car is not that good
  4. Anyone have official info about the FWD charging curve? I could only see the ADW curve in this forum.

I order in November 2021 and I have no concern about Toyota's quality or what they have said about EVs publically. Toyota has had "EV's" in different forms for over 20 years. The difference now is they have a fully dedicated EV with decades of engineering behind it. Recalls? Look up Hyundai and Kia's recalls,(yes, even their EV's) and you will be entertained for a while.

I just read this review this morning. Like many others, they are pretty impressed overall:

If anything, I think the BZ4X will prove a lot of people wrong. To date, most of what has been written is by people who haven't even driven the car. They look at the specs and say it's a failure. If you look at the specs of a Corolla or RAV4, they are not terribly special. Yet they are top selling vehicles which the market can't get enough of. Toyota builds dependable vehicles at fair prices. BZ4X will prove to be a strong player once owners start sharing their experiences.

Thanks for sharing this. Yes, even I feel that the reviewers are just with an agenda to promote the Ioniq 5 or ev6.

Welcome @chinnan! I don't know what the second hand market is like in Finland but given what it's like in North America I wouldn't be worried about resell value. As far as build quality goes I'm not worried either, the fact that Toyota addressed this early is promising, and as you said they have a reputation to maintain so they're not going to let the bZ4X be a bad vehicle, especially as their first EV.

Early is definitely before the recall.. I know Tesla, Hyundai, Kia had recall, but that doesn't justify Toyota's recall. Just imagine you had BZ4X and it was taken from you.. you will understand

When I ordered the BZ4X and started looking around, I wondered, is this the right choice? Then came the wheel recall. After beginning to read reviews and listening to them, doubt set in. The complaints about charging and autonomy mainly, but after thinking about it, I told myself they don't get it. I evaluated what I would do with the car and realized it was a great fit. The charging issue wasn't one cause for me because I would charge it at home, and the autonomy was plenty for me to make it back and forth. I drive 250 km/day to go to work and then park. The only issue is the cold weather, but the May update will significantly help. My car will be parked outside, and as I learned, L2 charging is not an issue in cold weather. So, I will confidently move forward with my purchase because I know they are reliable when Toyota puts a product on the market.

It was held back electronically on the fast charging. I guess they don't want batteries to catch on fire; the range and buffer were a little too conservative. They wanted you to be conscious about not forgetting to charge now they've realized they can unlock the car a bit more, and that's what they'll do with the update.

Me too. I’ve had many second thoughts about the bz4x. I contemplated about the tesla model y a few times since it qualified for the US fed tax credit. not to mention the great charging experience. Still, despite all that, I’m still in the running for the bz4x. My two reasons is the Tesla is just outside of my price ranged and I don’t like the minimalist dashboard, just one screen to see the speed? So I have to look down and over to see the speed?

I also noticed that the model y was a stiffer ride than the bz4x.

I like Tesla, but like you, they're a little out of my price range. Also, one thing that bothers me is that you have to pay to get features. I prefer buying a car that won't make me go; I wish I had this, or mine doesn't have that. Let's be clear; the BZ4X is not a consolation or one that iI settled for. I chose that car.
