A hybrid backed into me years ago before noises were required. I managed to jump up and sit on the trunk; no injury, just torn pants. Quite the adrenaline rush, though. Not one I want to repeat.

Yikes! I do wish the laws mandated all cars, even very quiet ICE cars, produce a minimum amount of noise as warning for pedestrians, instead of just requiring hybrids and EVs to make noise.
