BZ4X XLE AWD (non-tech) Braking issues

I have a BZ4X AWD since January 2023 and I currently have 17,000kms. Yes, I drive a lot. The car is great but I noticed at my last inspection at the dealership that the brakes already have 30% wear which is a lot given that I only do highway and use the Regenerative Brakes when available. I was told that I’m one of the very few drivers in Quebec that have this much mileage on a BZ4X so they do not how long the brakes are supposed to last. I assume the same as my Rav4 which lasted 96,000kms before replacing the front and 130,000 before replacing the rear. Since I drive the same route and the same kms every day, both cars should have brakes that would last about the same. It appears the BZ4X has either defective brakes or has poorly designed braking system causing premature wear. Does anyone have any information regarding the brake wear on BZ4X?

30% is such a nebulas concept when it comes to brakes. Its not as if they put a caliper gauge on them. More like an eyeball measurement. So, I would be dubious about the 30%, could be more, could be less.
So, the Bz is also about 1000lbs more than the Rav4. That is a about 20% more weight than the Rav4. If the Bz uses the same brakes components, ie rotors, pads, calipers, I would say the numbers are well within spec.
Without any additional information on the components used, pad material, etc, etc, your looking to compare apples to oranges.

Thanks for your reply. The brake pads on BZ4X are standard Toyota Ceramic pads that they use on all their vehicles. The shape and size may be different but the idea is that the shape and size is adapted to the specific vehicle size and weight. In the case of the BZ4X, pads have 12mm when new. I currently have 8.5mm left after 17,000kms which is premature west in my books.
Since you know more than I, I defer to your judgement.
This is quite concerning. I got my AWD non-technology last week. One of the reasons I made the switch to EV was not having to replace these components as often. I'm currently only at 600km so not much data I could pull from the wear of my vehicle.

Seems like dealerships really have no knowledge of this vehicle and information is hard to find online.

Do you use adaptive cruise control often on the highways? After using it today, I wonder if it doesn't prioritize one pedal mode to slow down but rather using the brakes.

I think it may be related to the AWD feature. I am guessing that the Rav 4 did not have AWD. But even if it did, the electric motors connect directly to the wheels whereas the gasoline engine transfers power through a transmission allowing for more freewheeling.
I’ve had mine since January too, but only 5000 miles. At the upcoming service, I’ll ask for the brake data. Certainly the weight of he vehicle will affect the brake pad wear.

Thank you for sharing this information. My bZ4x Limited has around 8,547 kms (5,311 mil) on it, and I plan to take mine to a local Toyota service this week for the first service. Just checked on the weight of the vehicles as it affects the brake wear, bZ4x weights 1,920–2,020 kg (4,233–4,453 lbs) vs. RAV4 weights 1,529-1651 kg (3,370-3,640 lbs). bZ4x has a bigger tires as well.

Here are the numbers based on my service at my local Toyota dealer in Palm Desert, CA.
