From what I read in the press release I guess this is the pricing without the $7500 tax rebate?
Even if it hits 200k by June - Toyota still qualifies for the full $7500 credit for another quarter (3 months) after that.Good chance there won't be any tax credits available for the bZ4X.
LA Times article April 6th, 2022
"The automaker expects that sometime before the end of June it will reach a 200,000-vehicle cap on the credits"
Toyota buyers soon will lose U.S. electric vehicle tax credits
Welcome to the forum @benja455! I didn't know that it stretches if they make it to July. Where did you see/hear that?Even if it hits 200k by June - Toyota still qualifies for the full $7500 credit for another quarter (3 months) after that.
If they make it to July before hitting 200k, they will stretch eligibility for the credit out until the end of the year.
What you’ve quoted is click bait.

Federal tax credits will soon be phased out for Toyota EV customers in the USToyota North America expects to surpass the 200,000 vehicle threshold for EV sales, disqualifying itself from federal tax credits.electrek.co
“If Toyota does in fact reach the 200,000 vehicle limit by the end of June, the phase-out would gradually occur over the course of a year. The credits initially continue at full value until the second quarter after the 200k threshold is reached, then half value for six months, followed by one-quarter value for an additional six months. Here’s a rough timeline of the phase-out should Toyota’s June 2022 estimate be correct:
July 1 to September 30, 2022 – Full $7,500 tax credit remains available for qualifying Toyota EVs.
- October 1 to March 31, 2023 – Credit drops to $3,750.
- April 1 to September 30, 2023 – Credit drops again to $1,875.
- October 1, 2023 onward – Toyota federal tax credit is zero.”
Actually, the full credit is only good for one full quarter after the quarter in which 200,000 EV's are sold. The 3,750 starts at the start of the 2nd quarter after the quarter in which 200,000 mark is hit.I did just read something similar, but yours is a bit more detailed!.. that's if the timing hits just perfect!
This is what I found:
the full $7,500 credit is available until the end of the quarter when the 200,000-unit mark is hit, and for two following quarters. After that, tax credit drops to $3750 (50% of the original) for the next two quarters, then down to $1875 for another two quarters. After that, there will be no more tax credits Toyota-branded electrified vehicles.
I'm hoping that we do in fact get that $7500 through the end of September, if not a bit longer. That's if i can get a hold of one of these by then!... If not, I may be shifting my efforts more to the Solterra. (which I have my name on a few list there too!).
