That is ridiculous, I would not pay anything above MSRP price honestly. I rather go and get a Ioniq 5 or ID.4. Luckily I confirmed with my dealership that I'll get my bZ4X at MSRP price, they are happy to earn my business (as they say).

I had been working with a dealership in Connecticut for the past month, car was at port and headed to the dealership this week. I worked with the sales guy, and they had a $5k markup that i talked them down to $2k, I said, i'll bite... this was several weeks ago we had worked out all the details... SO I THOUGHT! I said I need to talk to finance to get the paperwork rolling... Finance guy worked the numbers and gave them to me over the phone... I said something doesn't sound right! He then started breaking the costs out and said the "Dealer Fees" are $999 for a warranty (he said monitory) then said $399 for VIN etching, (also mandatory). I said, NO, i never pay any dealership for those fees, never have and never will. He said I'm sorry but they are non-negotiable. I said ok, then the sales guy and I need to have a talk. I called him out on it. he wouldn't budge! wouldn't lower any other costs to cover their STUPID dealer fees.

I'm so disappointed after all the work i went into putting this deal together over the past month. Shady business! Will not ever do business with them. Nor will i recommend them and will go out of my way to let people be aware!

"Colonial Toyota" out of Milford Connecticut.

Now I'm back to my deal with Servco Toyota in Hawaii. I reconfirmed just the other day. No stupid exaggerated dealers fees and NO MARKUP over MSRP.

Oh no, sorry to hear about your ordeal, that's so bad. At least from my dealership I have in writing that I will pay the MSRP price and they gave me the VIN# and the specs with all price calculated. Fingers crossed the deal goes thru as planned.

What's the connection between working with a dealership in CT but now you are going back to the one in Hawaii? Where do you live? Hawaii or Connecticut? How would you get the car shipped?

Carbuzz wrote an article calling out some of the worst including Koon’s in MD, which had about 25,000 markup.

edit: within a short time if this article and others just like it, I guess Koons had enough blowback and lowered the price down to JUST 10,000 over MSRP. Bunch of greedy bastards!

@fdtoader ... Ya, i had my VIN# and all my numbers aligned as well! It wasn't until I got to the Finance guy and he started adding on "dealer fees" In fact, come to think about it, we never got to "DOC Fees" He was calling all these other fees "Dealer Fees" and didn't mention the normal Doc Fee.

I typically have seen $399 for doc fees. Anyway, I'd suggest asking to talk to the Finance guy so you aren't surprised as I was. Partly dumb on my part, I should have asked about all these fees when we were discussing final pricing.

As for the whole Hawaii thing... I had an order in at Servco in Hawaii already, but had heard about the one in Connecticut that was coming available sooner! (this was a plus for me, for making sure I hit the Tax Credit). The one in Hawaii won't be available until September (which may be pushing it, if it pushes into October). Anyway, I live in Utah, which is not a ZEV state and therefore, as I called around to my dealerships here, they all told me the are receiving ZERO allocations for this car. In fact, the whole state only received about 4 allocations of the RAV4 Prime this past year. So I have had to shop around.

Shipping: The cheapest shipping from Hawaii was $870, from port to port (in LA). This is convenient for me, because I have family in California and I'd just go down there to pick it up and visit. The pricing is decent considering some other costs of shipping the car. In fact it was going to cost me $1895 to ship the one from Connecticut.

Found this one for a dealership in MD. This is limited to a certain sets of zip codes that represent their market. View attachment 731
They always add a $995 Lojack and markup. Bought a Land Cruiser in 2019 and a Rav4 Prime last Oct and tried buying another Prime last December and I was being charged $995 Lojack and a repeat customer discount on the markup. Only $6k markup instead of the $15k that they were charging out of state buyers.

This red color bZ4X Limited 2WD was listed on the Toyota of San Luis Obispo website this morning (Monday, May 30th) at $59,888.
I downloaded the window at $49,888.
So probably sold quickly close to the $10k markup.

Contacted Dealers over the past few days, these are the ones that are adding Markup and how much....

Santa Maria Toyota (CA): at least $10k
San Luis Obispo Toyota (CA): $10k UPDATE - They are willing to deal, I got mine here AT MSRP (in fact, they have one right now BELOW MSRP).
Wondries Toyota (CA): $15-$20k
Phil Long Toyota (CO): $5 (plus mandatory dealer add-ons equaling $1600)
Colonial Toyota (CT): $5k (Plus Mandatory dealer add-ons equaling $1400)
Beaverton Toyota (OR): can't remember how much, but it was at least $5k (and they were pretty animate about you living in the Portland area)
Roseville Toyota (CA): $15k
Western Slope Auto (CO): $7500
Corwin Toyota Boulder (CO): $10k
Toyota of Redlands (CA): $10k
Claremont Toyota (CA): they won't tell me over the phone! which means its high $5-$20k (must live in Southern California and must come in to talk to salesperson to get any details) Sounds like a haggle situation. Sad Day! ha ha!.
McDonald Toyota Greeley, (CO): $5k
North Bakersfield Toyota, (CA): $5,695
Kearny Mesa Toyota, (CA): $9,995 (includes paint protection, car alarm, door guards and a couple other things)
Bighorn Toyota, (CO): $5k
AutoNation Toyota of Cerritos (CA): $5500 plus fees.

No Markup: (although, waitlists are long or they don't get very much allocated to them)
Sunnyvale Toyota (CA)
Longo Toyota (CA)
San Luis Obispo SUBARU (CA) (for the Solterra)
John Elway Toyota (CA)
Toyota of Laramie (WY) (although, they were only allocated one and its sold).
Servco Toyota and Subaru (HI): NO WAITLISTS - No messing around, straight up forward with you, you can place an order anytime and they'll let you know how far out it is on build.
Turner Toyota, (CO)
Groove Toyota, (CO): only adding Wheel Locks ($119) no other fees or markups (normal Doc fees added)
Durango Toyota, (CO)
** update **
Hellman Toyota, (CO)

I'll update my list when I have more info. What i've found with some of these dealerships is the fact they seam to want to hide the fact they are adding on Market Adjustments, you have to drag it of them to get the info! Super Annoying.

Dealership in NJ (rated 5 stars nonetheless) just informed me that they had one available (Silver Limited AWD) but has a $10,000 markup. Pure price gouge!

GM is lowering the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV EV by 18 and 16% respectively and now starting at $26,000+ and $28,000+ and we have dealers trying to sell a BZ4X for $62,000+.

Insane!
